The wolf in your backyard

Things I learned today about coyotes:

* In my part of the country, they're really a cross between coyotes and wolves.

* Killing coyotes is like mowing grass. It just makes them grow faster.

* They are wicked-smart animals.

* As a corollary: they are tough animals to study, because they know when humans are around.
